Dance Sussex specialises in accessible partner dancing, suitable for all levels of dance ability. Whether you are a nervous first timer or an experienced dancer, we can help you choreograph your first dance as a married couple!
If you want your first dance to be truly special, I recommend that you start your dance journey at least 4 months before the big day. I believe that to make your wedding dance truly memorable, it’s not just about learning the moves or steps, it’s about developing dance floor confidence as well as learning the concept of ‘lead’ and ‘follow’. This will help to reduce the inevitable ‘big day’ nerves and make you both feel more at ease. It will take quite a bit of work and commitment on your part – but the results will be spectacular when you reflect on your special day!
To achieve a great first dance, I always suggest to couples that are new to dancing - try to attend at least 10 of our Ceroc evening class nights or workshops where you can first learn the basics from our more experienced dancers. We have venues across Sussex and run weekday, evening class nights as well as weekend workshops. If you can commit to at least 10 classes, I guarantee you will pick it up quickly as our style of dancing is suitable for all dance abilities.
Once you can confidently lead and follow and have a few moves under your belt, you can then move on to private lessons to develop a routine that you feel comfortable with, and which matches your personalities. Pick your First Dance song and then moves can be styled to fit the music. These lessons can either be held at your home or at a venue in Horsham.

To add a little something extra to your reception – why not have a group partner dancing lesson as part of your evening activities? This is a great way to help your guests get to know each other and will give them confidence to get up on the dance floor when the music starts!
